Emotional and Mental health….helping our children and young people

Emotional and mental well-being in children and young people seems to be increasingly in the news these days.

February 7th to 13th 2022 was Children’s Emotional and Mental Health Week

Many children seem stressed and struggling, with anything from mild anxiety, school phobia, ADHD and behavioural problems, the stresses of peer pressure, social anxiety and academic demands, fear of exams or difficult life and family events, to being in more serious depression and life-threatening states.

I treat children not diagnoses, looking at who and how they are and the symptoms they have. As a Homeopath, I want to know if anything has happened such as life changes or big events. Children suffer bereavements, physical illnesses, moving house, a friend moving away or they falling out with their best friend, anything. It could be a big thing or something that seems minor from the outside that has been a trigger.

I’m interested in knowing and understanding who this young person is, what do they love to do, their hobbies, favourite movie or band, what makes them feel furious or sad or frightens them or brings them joy ?

And I will listen to whatever they need to say.

A recent research trial looked at homeopathy along with other interventions and support. It’s worth having a read of Philippa Fibert’s blog and the research itself….you need to scroll down to find the entries about homeopathy.
